The coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19) has focused on the importance of cleaning and disinfecting our homes to prevent the spread of bacteria that could be potentially harmful to our health. Also, spending more hours at home (teleworking, confinement) is a challenge for daily cleaning.
One of the tasks that we can do at home these days is a thorough cleaning of all rooms, especially kitchens and bathrooms, which are considered the main sources of infection in the home.
Kitchen
In the kitchens we must pay attention to work surfaces, household appliances (ceramic stoves, fridges, ovens, extraction hoods, etc.), floors, cabinets and pantries. It is time to empty them, first of all to eliminate those products stored for long time (pay attention to expiration dates!) and to clean, in addition to the dust, the remains of crumbs, spices, pasta or rice. We must vacuum the interior, then spray the inside and the doors a surface cleaner, and then wipe with a microfiber cloth. We can repeat this operation with the drawers.
If our work surfaces, extractor hoods or refrigerators are made of stainless steel, use a specific product such as our CARELI INOX. Do not forget to also clean the floors with products that also leave a good perfume, for example FLOPP SUELOS UNIVERSAL ECO or FLOPP ECO SUELOS PH NEUTRO ECO.
Bathrooms
In bathrooms we will focus on cleaning and disinfecting the toilet, which we must clean thoroughly, with disposable nitrile gloves. For this we can resort to the classic ammonia or bleach, duly diluted in water.
We must not forget the door knobs, the shower screens, the toilet seats, the taps, …
Home textiles
It is also time to wash curtains, sofa covers, sheets and towels. The COVID-19 virus dies at temperatures of 26º or 27º C, so it is recommended to wash clothes and textiles at at least 40ºC. Products like FLOPP ROPA HIGIENE TOTAL take advantage of the power of thyme to eliminate bad odours in all kind of textiles.
Living with a coronavirus patient
The cleaning and disinfection of the home becomes vitally important when a member of the family suffers from coronavirus. We must take precautions and follow these recommendations of the Ministry of Health:
– Isolate the patient in a room with a telephone at his disposal, to be able to communicate, and that can be easily ventilated.
– Have an automatic garbage can with airtight bag.
– Do not share a bathroom with other family members.
– The caregiver must wear gloves and a mask to assist the patient. Once the care is finished, wash your hands very well. The caregiver should not have associated risk factors (previous pathologies, advanced age) and must self-monitor their own symptoms.
– The use of dishwashers with FLOPP ECO LAVAVAJILLAS gel or hot water is recommended for the utensils used.
– Clothes should be washed at 60º-90º C, and should be well dried (tumble dry or exposed to the sun)
Goal: prevent new infections
Home confinement is the main measure that governments have taken to try to contain the disease and prevent more people from getting coronavirus, except for buying groceries, pharmaceuticals, going to hospital centers or going to work, whenever teleworking is not a viable option.
In addition, the authorities insist that the population follow some simple recommendations to protect themselves from the virus: frequently wash their hands for at least 20 seconds; keep a meter and a half away from other people in essential public places (supermarkets, pharmacies, hospitals, workplaces); do not touch the eyes, nose or face, since the hands are a transmission vehicle; when coughing or sneezing, cover the mouth and nose with the inside of the elbow; use disposable tissues to eliminate respiratory secretions and throw them away after use, and, in case of presenting respiratory symptoms, avoid contact with other people.
